It looks like a phone and a camera were together tossed into a pool of radioactive ooze. I have never seen a piece of consumer electronics I would describe as "godless" until today.

이건 꼭 전화기와 카메라가 한데 묶어서 동심원 모양의 작은 연못에 던져진 듯한 모양이군.

전자제품 판매하는 곳에서 이전에 본적이 없는 물건이야.

Because our cellphone carriers are greedy bastards and have their lobbist busy tossing money at our greddy politicians. Also, the are too busy selling .50 cents ringtones at a dollar a pop, Data services for .10 a Kb, and SMS on a per use basis to be bothered with actually upgrading our equipment. Or heaven forbid ever allow a consumer to actually use bluetooth to FULL capacity or allow us to D/L our own ringtones, wallpapers, screensavers, sync with OUR choice of software etc...

왜냐하면 우리 휴대폰 통신 업체덜은 싸구려에 환장하고 탐욕스로운 정책자들에게

돈대주기에 바쁜 로비스트들을 데리고 있거던.

에 그래서 50센트하는 벨소리, 1Kb당 10센트하는 데이타 서비스, 꼴랑 1번의 무료 SMS를 팔기에 너무 바뻐서 장비 upgrade는 꿈도 못꿔.

그렇지 않으면 그넘들은 이런 기도나 하고 있지.

오 하늘이시여 풀파워의 bluetooth을 고객이 사용할 수 없도록 하시옵고

우리가 선택한 S/W로 전화벨소리, 바탕화면, 스크린세이버, 자료 동조 등등을 할 수 없도록 기원하나이다.

So, WHEN, and HOW MUCH WOULD IT BE IN KOREA?
Thinking about the manufacturers who make the parts for this phone (not Samsung, of course), such a phone must take a long time to be on shelves in Korea as well. It's also impossible to be a affordable price in 2005 and 2006. Even if it managed to sell them, only small amount would be sold. Think how less money Korean workers earn for a month than American worker do. And think what kind of people in such a poor country can afford a phone like this which probably costs near or over $1000US. This is their way of lying. If there is someone who cries why this product doesn't come here in U.S., CRY and wake up. Samsumg won't sell here because simply Samsung is not capable of producing it. By the time of its release in the real world, I'm sure several other companies will be also releasing 7MP camera phones.
You are just buying their wanna-be image without looking actual products. And Engadget.com should be warned, as it insults all the engineers who manages to ship actual products on US market.

그래서. 언제 얼마나 많이 한국에 이 물건이 팔린다는 거야?

이 휴대폰의 부품들을 만드는 제조사에 대하여 생각해 봤는데 (물론 삼성은 못만들겠지)

이 휴대폰은 한국에서 아주 오랬동안 출시 될 수 없을껄.

2005, 2006년에 판매가능한 가격을 못 맞출거야.

만의 하나 출시되었다 쳐도 소량만 팔리겠지

미국인에 비하여 한참 벌이가 좋지 않은 한국인들을 생각해봐

그런 못사는 나라 사람덜이 어떻게 1000 달러가 넘는 물건을 살 수 있겠어

이 넘덜이 뻥치는 거야

만약 왜 이 물건 미국에서 안파냐고 우는 넘있으면 울고 어여 일어나 삼성은 어짜피 이거 양산할 능력 없어.

이 휴대폰이 세상에 판매되기 시작하는 날 이미 다른 회사가 700만 화소 카메라폰 팔고 있을거야

너희덜은 단지 실제할 것 같지 않은 이미지 상품을 사는거야.

그리고 Engadget.com에게 경고 해야 해. 미국에 현실적으로 팔 수 있는 물건을 만드는 모든 엔지니어들을 모욕하지 말라고

Hey brian, korea isn't a poor country. They have a very large economy and are growing fast like most east asian countries. They have a higher percentage of broadband users than almost any country in the world. Not to mention, electronics are much cheaper there then they are here because of PPP and the local manufacturing. Check your facts before you make a fool of yourself again.

As for why the US doesn't get these phones...Most phone makers are from...KOREA so naturally they release all their goods in their home markets first. Not to mention the population density makes it way more cost efficient to release new technologies there than it does in the US.

그래서 자연스럽게 이런 제품은 한국에서 먼저 판매되지.

새로운 기술의 제품이 판매되기에는 인구 밀도가 높은 한국 시장이 미국 보다 좋기 때문이야

Korea has a standard wireless phone technology that allows for smaller phones than we have in the US.

We're so behind because the FCC decided that instead of picking a single standard, it would allow various technologies to compete.

Obviously you're a bit ignorant. Korea has the 12th largest economy in the world. I recently moved back to the U.S. after four years in Korea, and most of the Korean cellphones in the U.S. are about 2-3 years behind what is in the Korean market today. I wouldn't say "never" and probably assume the 7-megapixel SCH-V770 phone will be released in the U.S. a few years down the road.

"Spectre" made some good points. The wireless market isn't as robust (e.g. 80% wireless penetration in S. Korea) as Korea even with the landscape being more spread out here and the infrastructure costs higher. The U.S. wireless carriers here approached the market is a way hinders growth of voice and data services. The SMS charges are structured too high (small packages and then per use?), charge for incoming calls, etc. Hopefully, they will get some sense and change their pricing plans soon.

미국에 있는 한국산 휴대폰은 한국에서는 이미 2-3년전 모델들이야.

아마 이 핸드폰이 미국에서 시판되려면 몇년 뒤가 될 거야

"Spectre"의 말에 동의해.

무선 통신 시장은 한국 만큼 튼튼하진 않아. 인프라 비용도 비싸지.

미국 통신 업체들은 음성/데이타 서비스 성장의 걸림돌이야

SMS 비용은 너무 비싸 (용량도 작고 사용당 돈을 지불하여야 하다니).

수신 비용과 그외 것들도 마찬가지지

희망컨데 그들이 정신 차리고 합리적인 가격 정책을 내 놓았으면 좋겠어.

just to be clear here, i'm korean.
i check out engadget almost everyday,
gawking and laughing at all those gadgets shown here.
and i have to admit that it feels good seeing
you guys drooling over gadgets from korea.
but also, i love to read ppl criticizing them, too.
if you ask me, i think this 7 mp camera-phone is crazy.
i'm not sure it has good gualities we're looking for in any other normal 7 mp digital cameras.
but i'm not skeptical about samsung's ability to produce them. and koreans' ability to afford them.
if you come to seoul, and walk around the city,
you'll be amazed to see how many young kids have all those 3mp phones or 5mp phones.
i don't think it's fairly wise to spend 8,900 bucks on phones when you can buy a decent 5 mp camera with 3,400 bucks and you still have enough money to buy a nice 2mp phonewith cool features like mp3, gps.
but i'm not bragging about how we, koreans have good lives here.
so, mock the phone, don't mock korean ppl, or the country itself.
sometimes it's even scary to think about how many americans think like h-bryan does,
that korea is still a miserably poor country,
with images of korea when we just got out of the war in 50s or 60s within their heads.

나는 매일 이 사이트에 와서 둘러 보는 죽돌이야

You are all wrong.

Americans cannot be trusted with this kind of technology. If Americans ever came close or started facility that looked like we are trying to develop 7mp camera phone, Korea would have to invade. And it’s best not to think about smuggling this kind of power to the US.

The reason this phone won't be introduced in the US is that carriers are increasingly coming to the conclusion that cameraphones are not driving the data charges they had expected ... and we're talking about VGA phones or less, hence a 7 MP phone with its huge file sizes will definitely not encourage file transfers over data networks and hence not add to the carriers bottom line ... and that folks is all that counts

Hi a,

The Samsung SCH-V770 is not available for sale at this moment (not even in Korea). I, too, like many gadget enthusiasts would like to get my hands around these beauties, but we'll have to wait. Also, I would recommend you not to buy it directly from Korea, because they use CDMA and it will not be compatible with most carriers in the states. (Metro PCS and AT&T wireless – which is a part of Cingular still uses CDMA in the parts of the country) Furthermore, because in Korea the phone prices are not subsidized by the cell phone network carriers, you will have to pay the full price of the phone, which I am guessing will be around $500 USD. But if you really want the phone, check out: www.yahoo.co.kr and run the search. Many results will be in Korean, but you will see a handful of them translated in English.

As for H_Bryan, I don’t think I ever met a person who is so ridiculously pungent on stench of ignorance. You, sir, are the very reason why should remind ourselves and teach our children not to quit school and go to college.

한국은 CDMA이고 미국은 다양한 방식을 쓰니까 대부분은 통화 불가 거덩

게다가 보조금 지급이 않되니까. 500달러라는 거금을 한 큐에 값을 치뤄야 돼

그래도 못 참겠다면 한국 야후 사이트에 들어가서 찾아봐

대부분은 한국어지만 영어로 번역된 것도 많이 있어

브라이언으로 말하자면 저렇게 무례하고 무식한 사람을 본 적이 없어

이 넘은 왜 우리가 아이들을 가르치고 대학까지 보내야 하는지를

Maybe besides the two-megapixel part (c’mon Samsung, we know you got bigger digits in you somewhere), we have to say this is definitely the most intense American Samsung handset we’ve seen in a long time. Expect it in the second quarter to come with that 2-megapixel camera, swiveling dual display, EVDO support, Bluetooth, MPEG-4 video support, stereo speakers and VOD. Very nice indeed, especially since it still happens to be very small and light; however, we didn’t catch a memory slot on this thing, and that could be a big problem real quick. We’ll keep you updated. Click on to grab lots more shots.

I am pretty excited about this phone! I am holding out for a verizon phoen with at least 1.3 megapixel with a memeroy slot and bluetooth (not the v710, the camera is awful). This sounds like the perfect phone for me...Now its just the long wait to see when this will finally hit verizon...

beautiful phone, all the products they had at the ctia show were nice, the swivel is great.

멋진 휴대폰이야, 전시회에 나온 제품중에 최고여. 끝내준다.






고이즈미같은 넘에서 미친듯이 웃었음;;;

흠...한마디로 이들의 이야기로는. 우리나라에서는 이미 2~3년전에

출시되어 지금은 구형이 되어버린 폰이 외국에선 최신형으로 팔리고

있다 이소리군요.

지금 내것도 상당히 구린데 산지 1년밖에 안됐건만......-_-쯧쯧...


내 폰이 미국으로 건너가면 최신형이 되겠군-_-나이스다. 팔아먹을까?-_-
