At the age of three, Yoo surprised her adoptive parents by suddenly playing a Korean song, which her mother loved to sing, on an old piano given by a neighbour. Well, I noticed that at that time, when she was three years old," said her adoptive mother, Park. 예은 양의 양어머니인 박정순 씨는 “세 살 때 교회에서 노래의 한 부분을 쳤어요. 그때 (재능을) 알기 시작했고 그때부터 쉬운 동요같은 걸 치더라고요. 세살 때 부터 알기 시작했어요”라고 말했다. "I got goose bumps, because she never had any music lessons from anybody. She is blind and was just a three-year-old baby. How could she find the keyboard and play the melody? So I got goose bumps," Park explained. 박 씨는 “일단은 소름이 끼쳤죠. 왜냐면 누가 음악을 가르쳐 줬다면 몰라도 그런 적도 없고 눈도 보이지 않는 상황에서 건반을 찾아서 리듬을 안다는게 세 살 짜리가 리듬을 찾는다는게 얼마나 소름끼쳐요”라고 말했다. After entering a contest on a popular Korean television show "Star King", she amazed everyone with her piano skills and took home the cash prize of three million won ($3,900 U.S. dollars).
