TO 表(표현할표) : 세상에 너를 표현하라
한국 사회는 표현에 서툴다. 관습은 소극적이고, 체제는 억압적이다. 그러나 일단 표현하는 것만으로도 무언가 바뀔 수 있다고 믿는 사람들이 있다. 대중적으로 많이 알려지지 않았지만 세계적으로 그 실력을 인정받고 있는 한국의 서브컬쳐 아티스트들(그래피티 아티스트, 포토그래퍼, 비보이,스케이트 보더). 그 중에서도 한자리에 모이기 힘든 16명의 대표 아티스트들이 BUNKER1이라는 특수한 공간에서 그들을 펼쳐 보인다.
기존에 없었던 방식이 예술로 인정을 받기까지는 오랜 시간이 걸린다. 그럼에도 이들은 끊임없이 새로운 방식으로 자신을 표현하고, 작품을 통해 세상으로 메시지를 던져 왔다. 덕분에 우리가 살고 있는 이 세계의 커뮤니케이션은 좀 더 풍부해졌다.
예술가들이 대중의 언어를 풍성하게 만들어 주었...
다면, 거침없이 표현하라. 개개인이 스스로를 자유롭게 표현할 때, 변화의 토대는 만들어진다. 2012년 12월을 살아가고 있는 우리들의 아주 작은 행동 하나도 표현이 될 수 있다는 것, 그것이 이번 그룹전...“To表”에 참가하는 아티스트들이 전하고 싶은 메시지이다.

Theme: The Korean sociality is poor in expressing itself. The custom is passive and system suppressed. But there are people who believe that things can change by expressing oneself. These are the Korean subculture artists (graffiti artists, photographers, b-boys, skate boarders and so on). Though they are not well known to the general Korean public, their skills and talents are recognized all over the world. Between those gifted artists, 16 representatives have gathered at the unique location BUNKER1 to introduce and represent their talents.

It takes time and hard work for new fields of art to get acknowledged. But that didn’t stop these artists from expressing themselves and molding messages into their work for the world to see. Thanks to these people the world we live in is rich of diverse expressions and communication methods.
If artists helped the public language more abundant and expressible, then don’t hesitate to use it. Change comes naturally once an individual is able to freely express himself. Living in the moment of December 2012, this itself can also become a form of expressing ourselves. That is the message the participating artists want to pass on and that is the theme of out group gallery…“To表”
