  Trump Is Following, Not Leading     

The United States has outsourced its foreign policy to regional allies. In South Korea, it might lead to peace — in Israel, it’s more likely leading to war.     
미국은 외교 정책을 동맹국에게 위탁했다. 한국에서는 평화로, 이스라엘에서는 전쟁으로 치다를 가능성이 크다.   

 As speculation abounded about a possible Nobel Peace Prize, Moon deftly praised Trump and ceded the spotlight to him. The South Korean president had already negotiated a path away from conflict, become the indispensable intermediary, and fulfilled his unlikely post-election pledge to put Seoul in the “driver’s seat of the Korean Peninsula.”    
노벨 평화상 수상 가능성에 대한 말들이 나오자, 문 대통령은 재빨리 트럼프를 추켜세우고 스포트라이트를 그에게 양보했다. 한국 대통령은 이미 갈등에서 벗어날 방안을 협상해냈고, 없어서는 안 될 중재자가 되었으며, 가능성이 높지 않은 것처럼 보였던 대선 이후의 약속인 ‘한반도 운전자론’을 달성해냈다.     

Had there been a peace-seeking President Moon in Jerusalem, rather than a bellicose Netanyahu, tensions with both Iran and the Palestinians would likely be calming down rather than escalating.    
호전적인 네타냐후 대신 평화를 추구하는 문재인 대통령이 예루살렘에 있었다면, 이란 팔레스타인의 긴장은 고조되는 대신 진정됐을 것이다.
